Which Antivirus Software is Better?

The Big Decision
I recently had an opportunity to test and review various antivirus solutions for the nonprofit organization I work for. I will leave out their name to protect the innocent. We had been using CA's ITM 8.1 anti-malware product. We seriously needed something better because the software was difficult to manage and we had been hit with malware on quite a number of systems that were supposedly protected. I had been looking for third party reviews of CA and couldn't find any. I looked at Virus Bulletin and various other review sites and nothing told me much detail about CA. Looking further, I found that Kaspersky was highly ranked and so was Sophos. These were the top 2 players. Sophos looks like a great product, but their software is just too expensive. We were able to afford Kaspersky due to getting a non-profit discount. So that's what we decided to do. We went with the Enterprise Space Security product because we do have an Exchange server and about 200 or so desktops and laptops.

The deployment
So I installed it and set it up. I've been tracking all the time I've spent looking at settings, deploying software and removing CA from computers that already have it installed. Unfortunately for some reason the automatic uninstall for Kaspersky to remove CA didn't work properly so I did have write a batch file to automatically uninstall CA. Not a huge deal, but I've spent more time on the CA uninstall issues than on the Kaspersky issues. I've spent a total of 20 hours so far and I've already gotten Kaspersky installed on 2 servers, 18 laptops and 120 desktops. So I'm mostly done, but there were a number of systems that failed to install due to them being Windows XP SP1 which Kaspersky doesn't support. So I have a fellow tech working on going out to each of the systems to upgrade them to SP3. I'm extremely happy with how the deployment is going and I've been told by several users that while their machines seem to be a bit slower at login, they are much faster and more responsive throughout the workday which I'm really impressed with.

My Conclusions
My personal belief is that Kaspersky is software that I can trust to find malware and not to slow down my systems. I personally believe that they have the absolute best value in the market and they have consistently performed well on my tests and also on other third party tests. I will publish results of other third party review tests later, but I'm running out of time to write this today. Kaspersky's antivirus software is absolutely the only software I can recommend right now. Please don't waste time like I did running into one brick wall after another trying all the other software out there. I've had problems with everything else I've tried. I'm also using it at home and for me it seems to be working extremely well.
